St. Matthew’s Prayer Committee
Philippians 4:6 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
The purpose of the prayer committee is to lift up specific needs of our church. Individual prayer requests will continue through the Refrigerator Page in the weekly bulletin.

Month - May 2006:
Please pray for the following needs of St. Matthew Church.

May’s scripture verse: “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance.” Romans 5:1-3

May New Requests:
• For the St. Matthew’s committees and outreach ministries specifically:
o School and Preschool
o May God protect our children and prepare their hearts for Christ.
• Preserve and protect the church property and buildings.
• When tempted to miss Mass because of nice weather, remind us of what is truly important.
• Protect our parishioners during the summer traveling months.
• Ground us in the knowledge of your protection as we live during turbulent times.

May Existing Requests:
• Armed Forces – may God’s protection surround our troops, especially the men and women serving from St. Matthew. May God strengthen their families.
• St. Matthew’s two, five and 10 year planning. May the Holy Spirit direct our future.
• Church finances especially the $200,000+ debt. We ask that God provide miraculously.
• Father Jerry for his spiritual leadership and guidance. May God grant him the strength to serve our parish. We also lift us the priests of the Archdiocese and the Topeka region.

Act of Faith:
O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; I believe that your divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths, which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because you revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived.
